Lucan Village

Lucan Village has an attractive mix of Architecture,  Sarsfield Terrace and Vesey Terrace are late nineteenth century and add a certain quaintness to the village, there is  a Georgian terrace on the Mall, and watching over it all is  Lucan House now the private residence of the Italian Ambassador. It was built in 1772  by Rt. Hon. Agmondesham Vesey, It is recognised as one of the finest country homes in Ireland.

The Demesne walk was once part of Lucan House Estate, it is now a public park. Here you can follow the walk along river.  It has good pathways and mixture of open banks and wooded areas to walk in. It is also a popular spot with canoeists practicing for the annual Liffey Decent

The river Liffey flows through Lucan and the most spectacular viewing point is the weir,  a beautiful area to watch the water rush and tumble over the rocks, and you may even see a lone Heron standing majestically in the water waiting to catch his dinner.

The Liffey continues on under Ireland’s longest single span stone bridge then glides gracefully through the Strawberry Beds on to Dublin.
